Wonkwang University is a private university in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, founded in 1946 as the Won Buddhism-affiliated Youilhakrim academy and chartered as a university in 1953.
It is known for the breadth of its medical teaching, covering Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Korean Traditional Medicine in one place, alongside Law, Police Administration, Fire Service Administration and a Korean language and culture programme.
Very few universities anywhere teach Western medicine, dentistry and traditional Korean medicine on the same campus, and that is what Wonkwang is known for.
